Just like there is more than one potential buyer for your home, there are multiple types of social media to get the word out that it's up for sale. Here's how you can harness the power of social media to sell your home.

Linkedin is great for professional peer to peer information sharing. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat are perfect for getting the word out about your shiny new listing, and they speak to different demographics. 

Know Your Audience

It's important to know the demographics of the people who may be searching for homes in your area. Are you more likely to sell to seniors looking to downsize? A young family with multiple children? Young professionals looking for a home in a quiet down, within easy computing distance of the big city?

Once you know your demographics, you can choose a social media platform(s) that your target demographic is most likely to use.

For example, most people under 34 use Twitter. Instagram is very visual, and favoured by the 29 and under crowd.

While Facebook is still used by the young'uns too, 79% of 30-49 year olds and 56% of people over 65 use it. Snapchat may not be the best choice regardless, because while it's great for when your fourteen year old sends a house picture out to all her friends with a happy face emoji because she's moving to the country... it really won't help you sell your house.
