Durham Region in Ontario
The Regional Municipality of Durham, informally referred to as Durham Region, is a regional municipality located in Southern Ontario east of Toronto.
The Region of Durham is situated in the highly developed and populated economic centre of Ontario, known as the Golden Horseshoe. Durham Region lies within the Greater Toronto Area, and consists of 8 local municipalities. The area is characterized by a variety of landscapes and communities.
Durham is endowed with a young, skilled labour force. It has all the utilities, transportation and social infrastructure associated with modern metropolitan communities. Its government controls include policing, emergency medical services, recycling collection, water supply, health programs, and a variety of other services.
